Does the front end on the Outlander 800 come up when climbing steep hills?
#1
I am very close to purchasing an Outlander 800. I like everything I read - except - I have read in several different forums and ATV magazines that the front end comes up when climbing steep hills. When I read a review about the Outty 800 vs. the Sportsman 800, the Outty was better in every category but while the front end stayed planted on the Sportsman, the Outty 800 tends to come up. I am just looking for the truth here - I want to know what I am getting into, because I like to climb steep hills.

I would say if your not looking for raw power, and worried about the front end coming up!!! might want to reconsider!! How fast are you talking about going up a hill?? are you talking about sand?? are you talking about ttree shooting? are you talking about stopping then accelerating? lots of factors, before one can help?? I will tell you from experience steep incline stop then accelerate shes coming up with power, and it has that power! do you way a 100 pounds, or a 1000lbs?? all factors needed to give you the facts! That's the thing you've gotta like about this forum. You can't get a straight answer to a simple question. Climbing steep hills does the front end tend to come up, Yes or No. Doesn't matter what you weigh or how you look. How do you get a straight forward answer?

Actrite was not looking for facts or certain situations!! He clearly stated in his research from several diffrent forums, and Atv magazines, unbiased I am sure, lol that the front end comes up!! He says hes looking for truth, but not circumstanses, appearently!! Just a yes or no. Semper Fi carlton

If you sit back in 2 wheel and punch it it will flip over that grab bar is pretty tough I have never felt inescure climbing on it.. although i know a girl that flipped her brute force on one of our hill climbs.. and im not really sure HOW since all my climbs are just punch it and go. I guess there are people that like to try and putt up hills and then you don't have momentum on your side and it can become dangerous

No!
Not when you have visco lock on. All 4 wheels will be pulling about equally, the rears do not spin any faster then the the front end to lift or wheelie. I have visco lock on my Quest 650 and if you can't make it to the top of the dune it will just dig itself down like an Armidilla. I presume magazine and others where testing in 2wd because when Visco lock is on it should be very hard to get front to lift.
