Bigger carbs are usually one of the last things to add after extensive work. If you need a little more power, add a full exhaust and rejet the carb.

If you were to port the head, add a cam and hi compression piston, a larger carb would work well.

By the time you make that kinda power, the chassis will need to be upgraded for the speeds it will be capable of.

well the carb i have on it is a 36mm stock one and all the screws are stripped so i wanted to just buy a new carb instead of having work done on the stock one so if i just replace it with the same 36mm would it make a difference or would i still have to get all the work done too it so it didnt hurt the bike

Elderbrock claims to add 4-5 HP at the wheels with their carb kit. but it is pricey.

A larger carb. wont hurt a stock engine as long as it is jetted properly, if you run the engine too lean you could potentially damage something.

In that case, id say go ahead and upgrade. I didnt realize your stock carb was messed up. Id buy an aftermarket carb before spending money on the same thing I already had. Then when you go make other mods you already got the fuel supply.

When you say the screws are stripped are you talking about the 4 that hold on the float bowel? If so these always strip. Use a good pair of needle nose vise grips and they will come right off. Then go to a hardware store and pick up 4 new allen head screws.

Like the others said. There is no reason to change out the stock carb before doing quite a few other mods. The stock carb delivers plenty of fuel for the stock engine.
