I did a search on plastic and came across a carbon fiber plastic talk.But really didnt find info about it.Is there such a thing and how much is it i want it bad if there is such a thing.That would look sick.All carbon fiber fenders![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

Anyone ever heard of carbon fiber plastic?

 

Back in about 2001, Bomb made a gas tank cover and dash and I think a heat shield that was carbon Fiber look. It was only available over Bombardierdirect.com but, it has all been sold and none is available any longer.

That's all I know. . .

My friend manages a factory that produces the carbon fibers, they sell it on spools to companies world wide. Stronger then steel and his product is used in airliners, it's an interesting process, he took me on a tour of the factory earlier this year. It's a very expensive commodity right now as there is a worldwide shortage. They can't produce enough and are making twice as much as like 6 years ago.

 

YEP I got em on my ds,, Local dealer Found em about a year ago ,. Kind of hard to get,, 6 week wait as I recall. Don't know if ya can still get em.. Not real carbon fiber, Plastic with carbon fiber look. still pretty cool lookin.. Only comes in the Tank cover, dash, exhaust heat shield, front sprocket guard .. comes as a set Like around $300 I believe. And the Alba parts are REAL carbon Fiber, but no tank cover,,That I know of from them;

I may take my Ds in another direction and may part from my set.

not sure if you have checked Mayor Plastics.. I know they make "carbon fiber" plastic parts for the KFX.. maybe for the Ds as well, I havn't checked this out myself though. you may also check with Laker, they may have some.

 

Maier didnt make the carbon fiber plastics for the KFX. Kawisaki did a Limited Edition of them in 2003-2004
