no.you dont need to wait, just go to china-mart and get some 5-40 syn, in the blue gallon jug.[shell-rotella]
great stuff, i use it in my rancher, zero problems, run's cooler.
also use the stuff in my goldwing's.
and it's cheeper too.

Dont I need to flush out the oil? I read somewhere about doing this whe nswitching from natural to synthetic. SOmething about draining the oil. the refilling with cheap oil, idling for 20 minutes. then draining that. Then adding new filter and synthetic.

also what about mobil 1 mxt4 or amsoil?

You could have swithed before you ever rode it. Many vehicles come from the factory with synthetic stock.

Thats an old wifes tail. They make oil thats already blended in the bottle, syn and regular( so theres goes that myth). Oil is oil, syn just referres to how its made in a lab, as opposed to being made by nature. Treat syn oil as you would any other oil..put it in anytime, mix anytime, change at the same intervals and so on.

Just change it. That's what I did on my Rancher when I switched to synthetic.

Think about it....if you drain the dino oil out and flush it with a cheap oil as you state, what good are you doing? You still have cheap oil in the machine using that logic.

Switch it and ride on. My Rancher runs smoother and cooler with the synthetic.

I actually had a shop mechanic WARN me not to add any mineral based oil to synthetic if I'm out on the trail as it will cause the oil to "gum up" and will cause my engine to seize.......this is a MECHANIC at a dealership.....had a dealership owner tell me synthetic was too slippery to use in my Outlander.

I dont know why anyone would put mineral oil in the crank case. Its not the same thing as petrolium oil.
There are lots of myths that persist about synthetics, being too slippery is another. It isnt more slippery, its just that the molicule size is controlled with synthetics, where natural oil is random.
If you do a google search on myths and synthetic oils..youll find lots of information, all saying just about the same thing,
heres two of them

Raidermike,

I am a certified machanic for Toyota and also used to work with pennzoil a few years back for almost 8yrs. Mixing synthetic and regular oil does not hurt anything. It will not gum up either. The thing that gums up oil is parafins/wax and lack of heat or boil over.. Most oils have a low or no parafin base to them now days. It is a myth about mixing synthetic and regular oils being bad. Even the semi synthetic oils are regular based with some synthetic.

It is not recommended to use a synthetic oil durring break in because it does not give the rings a chance to seat right. Yes SOME cars come from the factory with synthetic but they are also run at the factory.

Synthetic is superior to use over regular oil. Yes it is more slippery and that is good. If you look at the molicules of regular oils are jagged and more wide spread while the molicules of synthetic is more round, smooth and closer together which means it will be more slippery. This means less friction, less heat and more hp.
