SunL Carb/starting questions
#1
Okay hopefully someone will be able to help before i give up <LOL>.
Have a Sunl SLA-95 ATV that will not start or idle. Here is what i ahve done so far:
1 - Has gas and gas is freely flowing into the carb.
2 - New plug with correct gap.
3 - clean air filter
Note - i have two of these machines and the other one runs PERFECT! So, i have been taking the adjustments
of the good running carb and duplicating them on the one that won't start and idle.
4. air/mixture screw is 2 complete turns out
5. idle screw is 3.25 1/2 turns out.
The thing will not start! However, when i pull the little air filter off and put the palm of my hand over the opening it
fill fire right up for about 2-3 seconds then dies no matter what i do woth the throttle or choke.
My guess is that it is running lean? what do you think.....When turning the air mixture in am i increasing
the gas in the gas air mixture? I like to tinker but my expertise is not in carbs....
I have done a lot of searching on this site but most of the answers are for adjusting machines that are running<grin>.
Anyone have any thoughts on where i can start that would really be cool....My kids will appreciate it!

Good News!!
Well, the machine is about 6 months old.
2manytoys - After reading MANY of your posts on this forum i started just about all your suggestions on my quad to get it
going. The posting on how to adjust your carb article was the best. However, it didn't help me get it started. When i adjusted
both the air mixture screw and the idel screw to what you suggested, no luck, no start. Then after many swear words being
shouted in my garage and the hum of the battery charger i decided i would take the carb off the machine and clean it. I
figured i have nothing to lose it didn't start anyways.
After taking the carb off and taking the floatbowl off i found it full of gas and to my surprise a bunch of 'junk' floating around.
I was shocked at the amount of crap floating around!. I then removed the two jets (i think they are both jets?) and took
the air hose to them and also took i small piece of wire and clean out the inside so i could see through them. Also wiped
out all the crap and out the carb back together. Then proceeded to turn the air mixture screw all the way in and back it out
2 full turns. I also did it with the idle screw and backed it out 2.5 times.
Put the carb back on the machine hooked it all up and added some fresh gas. Decided what the heck i will give it a try and
hit the start button. The machine started right up and idled PERFECT. I mean P E R F E C T!!!!! I was so amazed and so happy for this forum and really happy there are people out there like you ( Mr. 2manytoys) to help the weekend garage
mechanic like myself.
THANK YOU!

the fuel filters on these suck! theres junk in the tanks their not cleaned real good, and probably undesolved gelpack crap in the carb, best thing to do with these after youget them running for a few days just take the carbs off and clean them.

Be sure to remove the rubber tube between the air filter and carb. Examine it closely for cracks by gently squeezing.
Also look for the same at the rubber around the intake manifold. ANY cracks will allow air to be sucked in, instead of fuel.
My 2cents.
