I was thinking on trading in my 05 kodiak 450 for a sport quad, the dealer has a 04 yfz 450 and a 02 raptor that i could trade in on. I cant really afford to go new. Never been on a sport quad, theres nothing wrong with my kodiak its a great bike, im just looking for a little more excitement. My riding cosists of mostly fast trail riding. So i'm wondering if you guys have any opinions, pros and cons of the bikes.

 

yfz450 the 01, and some 02 rappys have weak trannys

im kinda of leaning towards the 450 because its newer and probably has less miles and hours on it, but both bikes appear to be in great shape.

 

I have had both and I prefer the rappy for trails. The yfz is more of a motocross quad but can be used on trails but it has no reverse.

 

I agree that the Raptor is the better trail bike. You can just chug thru the trails if you want, on the yfz you'll be doing a lot of feathering the clutch in the same situations. Also, if the trails are really tight, it gets tough to fit sometimes. With all that said, if it were me I'd probably still buy the yfz....lol.

 

Ive actually decided to go with the 450 for insurance reasons the raptor was over $600 more per year even though it will cost me more on the trade in.

Where I live (Pennsylvania) you must have insurance. If you don't have insurance and you ride off of your property you face big fines if caught.

 

well im a bigger guy im 6,1 250lbs..The rappy fells better to me..Just becouse of my size..But if you not fat like me you cant go wrong with the 450..Just go with everone you like best..[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
