Default Rubicion with the hydro-cvt trans,towed ?

If the engine quits at road speed can the bike be towed without damaging the trans?

I have been told that this trans is similar to a trans in a lawn tractor with hydrostat and they can't be towed without disengaging the trans.I don't see a trans release on the ATV.

I don't know the quad at all but you need to be careful. Some of these Honda's have a car like tranny in them.
If this thing is like a car tranny with no rear pump the only thing that lubes the rear bushing is the front pump. If the engine is not running the torque converter is not turning and that means the pumps is not turning.
If this is the case (???) then some bushings are not going to get lubed.
This is not bad at very low speed but is not good for some of the bushings.
I'm not saying this is the case with your quad; I'm saying be careful until you get an answer from someone who knows exactly what's up.

The Hondamatic transmission works similar to a hydrostat, but it isn't one. Yes, it can be towed in neutral.

Yes they can be towed.
The hydralic trans unit connects to the mainshaft of the sub transmission. When tha sub transmission is shifted to neutral there is no effect on the hydro tranny.

Yes, low range is in the sub transmission. Same as reverse, neutral and high range
All the way foreward on the gear selection lever is low range, pulling bacl one notch is high range, next notch is neutral, then reverse is all the way back

And, just for clarification, the Rubicon is the only unit mated to the sub tranny that has the low range, right? Can the Rincon be mated to this same sub tranny?

The sub transmissions are built into the engine cases, not removable like a car tranny. Not swappable. You would have to be a machining specialist to make this type of low range in the rincon.
