Default Reprint in "non-caps" Help with Raptor 50

Ok, this is a repeat, but I unknowingly posted a request for help using only capital letters.....sorry seems this is against the rules and I was reported.

On to the issue at hand...I have a 2005 Raptor 50 that I installed a ProCom CDI box and an OEM Raptor 80 throtle contol arm and slide. Now at anything past 1/2 throtle she bogs and dies. This seems like an air/guel issue, but like I said in my illegal post I would like some direction from one of the other dad's who have done these mods and know how to work out the kinks.

Thanks for any and all help and again "sorry" for the incorrect post.

I assume that when it bogs that the choke is off. can you get it to run any better by closing the choke
some or all the way. if so then it is running lean. this could be an air leak (did you put the slider cover back
on with a new gasket) or it may need the jet changed to run at higher RPMs. does it idle ok. when I changed the slider on my
sons Raptor 50 I also changed from the stock 50 jet to the stock 80 jet. this required some adjustment
of the idle air and idle speed.

FYI here are some articles about carb. jetting and adjusting

My Raptor 50 with the new cdi, cut slide and throttle bogs down like you stated at full throttle. It does not die though, just sounds like it is getting too much fuel. I added a K&N filter and this helped a little but it still acts like it is too rich. After riding for about 20 minutes it clears up and revs like crazy. Really odd, I have not had time to mess with it though and am also curious what others think.

Actually, I went to my local dealer and bought the OEM slider for a Raptor 80.

I have the stock main and pilot jet for a Raptor 80 as well, just haven't installed them yet. No better time that the present though....I am heading to the garage to do so and I'll post the results.

Stay tuned and thank you to those that responded.

Ok, I think it's good now I just installed stock main and pilot jets from the Raptor 80. I will be taking my daughter out riding tomorrow so that will be the real test.

I'll let you know how it works out.

Oh, one last thing for those keeping score...I did spend about 30 minutes playing with the air fuel mixture. Like I said seem to be ok now though.

Ok, I'm back and it's not ok. I finally had enough time to take my daughter out for a good ride. It's seems ok at anything except for an idel. It will run better than it ever has above an idel, then when she stops it'll idel for about thirty seconds and die. I have just ordered a new gasket for the slide cover as I didn't have one on hand when I changed the slide and also I didn't change the nozzel. The reason I didn't change the nozzel is because there are two different threads and depending on which on you read some seemed to have used it and some didn't. I f anyone can help me out here I would appreciate it. Also, the main jet should be what size. The stock Raptor 80 which is what I installed is not the size I have seen others talk about installing. The stock 80 is a little smaller than what I have seen otheres talk about installing. Again, this depends on what thread you read. PLEASE help with this once and for all.

Thanks
Jon
