Default Cracking open a Yamaha DT 400 motor... need help

I have a 1976 yamaha dt 400, 2 stroke. it is blown up, and the piston broke apart, shattering into the motor. i want to get all of the metal chunks out of the motor, and i think i have to crack open the motor. if i do this, will all of the gears, bearings, etc fall out, and will it be some what easy to put back together.
I know it is a motorcycle question, not a fourwheeler question, but i figure the motors are close to the same. thanks for the help.

Come on, are all of you telling me you've never opened up any kind of 2 stroke motor, even if it was a fourwheeler... same motor setup, different frame.

I remeber thiose bikes. Didn't it have room for two spark plugs in the head so you had a spare plug?
