Warn Winch Brake Kit
#1
I have a Warn A2000 winch on my Rancher 4x4 and I was thinking about purchasing the optional brake kit for it. Does anyone have the optional brake kit on their Warn winch? How does it work, and how much can it hold? Any info you may have about the brake kit would be appreciated. Thanks.

I installed a Warn A2500 on my Rancher to be used with a Moose plow, and installed the Brake in the winch prior to mounting it on the Rancher.
The Warn Part number is: 22142. I purchased it through Gowarn.com:

Cost is $60.95 plus shipping. Make sure you get the shipping costs in advanced. They intially charged me $20 for shipping. I complained and they credited me $10.
It was a fairly simple install. You will have to uninstall the winch to install the brake. Just follow the instructions, you should have no problem.
I didn't plow any snow yet, but did try the winch by having it hold the plow suspended overnight and it worked fine. Warn states a max of 100 lbs without the brake, but I prefer to have the brake for the extra brake load.
Good luck.
