Default raptor 700 too much?

Looking into buying my first quad. I like the idea of fuel injection and noticed not too many sport quads have it yet. So I was thinking about getting the Raptor 700 but is this going to be too much quad for my first one? I've riddin a couple of 4x4 500's but never a sport. I'll be riding mainly trails and river beds in north tx. Thanks for the info.

All these bikes are so tame the way they're delivered off the showroom floor just about anyone could ride them with no problem. The only people I'd be weary to put on a sport quad of 400cc or above are minor children and/or folks (mostly women) that are brand new to off-roading, of small stature and otherwise have zero clue what they're doing.

Would you be afraid to buy a Corvette because it had to much power? You can get hurt on pretty much any one of these things, and they pretty much all go faster than many woods type trails will allow. The key is to keep your wits about you and ride within your limits. You will be fine as long as you do that.

Get the 700r. My friend bought a 400ex and it was his first quad. He is already looking for more power and he has only had the machine a couple of weeks.

Go ahead and get the 700, just use your head until you get experienced on the bike, ive seen lots of guys get hurt on much smaller machines by being stupid.

I bought the 2007 Raptor 700r as my first quad and to tell you the truth as long as you ride to your ability and dont attempted anything you dont fell comfortable doing you will be good. But on the other hand any machince can be to much if your pushing past your ability. I have had mine for a couple months now and I have had some close calls but I have not done anything that I am not comfortable doing...except for when I decided to wheelie threw a deep puddle and hydroplaned into a tree and bent my A-Arm lol but that was because of not knowing how easy they are to hydroplane. And I noticed one thing if your riding with others peer pressure is huge but if you can overcome those issues you will be good. GO 700R
