400ex a-arms and axle on a 300ex

Does anyone know if the stock a-arms and axle off of a 400ex would fit on a 300ex? I thought I read something about it elsewhere in the forum, but I would like to verify whether or not this would work. Please help!

The axle will not work.

There have been previous posts about the control arms, I think it requires some mods, but can be done.... Don't remember for sure...
