Default 4WD light flashing 6 times (2004 Foreman S)

Hi all,

I have a 2004 Foreman 450s and sometimes (not all the time) when I put it in 4WD and go over some rough gound such as rocks and come back to level ground, I come to a complete stop and put it back in 2WD and I can see the 4WD light will flash six times in a row, wait about three seconds and will flash another six times. I will keep doing it even if I switch it in and out of 4WD.

The next day when i start it up everything is fine and no flashing light.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any input.

On my 05 anyway, 2 is front speed sensor, 3 is rear, 4 is system voltage, and 5 is front clutch system. It doesn't list a 6...

6 flashes points to an alternator related issue. most likely its a loose or water filled connector. Check the connections coming out of the motor for the stator and at the front fcc unit.
Hows the battery doing? Hows the connections at the battery...clean and tight and non oxidized?

code 6 is the engagement coil for the 4x4, very expensive to fix,
Does it is have 4x4?

Can this type of info be found in a service manual? I just ordered one and hope to find directions on how to fix the problem.

I will check the battery connections today and will see if they can be cleaned, anyone have any other steps that should be taken before I start buying parts?

cluby, it still has 4x4 yes.
