I fill mine almost to the top and for some reason i get about 60 miles to the tank. Is this normal (this quad is the same as the kodiak 450, just a simple name change.)

 

Pure mileage doesn't really mean much with a quad, it's extremely dependent on the terrain and rider. That 60 miles to a tank could be horrible or amazing, depending on how fast you're moving, and how hard the engine is working.

 

alot of it is uphill, so its understandable, atleast it gets better mpg than my truck.

 

Thats about 10-11 miles to the gallon! Your truck is worse than that???????

 

HAHA i get 11.7 mpg sometimes 12 when im lucky, not to shabby. 8.1 litre 2500. I hope someone else gets my gas mileage.

 

The kodiak has a 2 gallon reserve...so even when you think your 4 gallon tank is dry, you still have 1/2 tank left.

You're doing good at 60 miles a tank. The most we ever got with our old Kodiak 450 was 45 miles per tank, and thats dry, not just reading empty on the gauge. Our 2005 Kodiak 450 was a big time gas hog. Even our YFZ 450 will go farther on a tank of gas than the Kodiak 450 would. We did a desert race once that was 52 miles between gas stops, with the YFZ and a stock gas tank, and I don't think we could have done that with our Kodiak 450.

 

Nice, so I guess im getting descent mpg. This week i actually managed to get about 80 miles out of a tank!, I guess thats amazing for this machine. Seems like everything I have is a gas hog. My local gas stations love me.

 

My 05 Kodiak 450 averages about 20-22 miles to the gallon. I fill it at a gas station and refill it and check it just like a car. I trail ride in the mountains. Some miles very slow and some faster. I don't use 4wd very often. Its not necessary with the Kodiak. I have over 1300 miles on the Kodiak, so the gas mileage has been figured many times and is always about 20.
