Default 650 Rincon Grinding Noise - What's Going On?

Hello all, I have an '03 650 Rincon with about 450 miles on it. I mainly just do trail riding, but I have crossed a few water filled ditches over the life of the machine. So here's the problem, when I am turning and hit the rear brake, I get a very loud grinding noise from the rear of the machine. It doesn't do it when I'm going straight, just when I'm trying to turn, so I don't believe it is an actual brake problem. My guess is that I have something wrong in the rear differential or rear CV joints, but I thought I would get some advice here before I take it into the dealer.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You have drum brakes correct well on my ozark it did the same thing and I found out it was the brakes and the hub would grind against the cover for the drum so take the wheel off and inspect to see if you can find any sign of grinding metal

Actually the rear brake on the Rincon is a disk brake mounted to the drive shaft. I read on another forum that there is some play between the disk and the drive shaft, and that this can cause the chatter when using the rear brake. Sure makes a loud chattering sound when I have the front wheels turned and apply the rear brake. Maybe it's not a problem?

I have heard of that problem and my buddy's 650 does it a lot. Check to see if you can wiggle the rear disc. If so, I have seen on RinconRiders.com that someone fixed it by tightening the rivets holding the disc. I think he used a punch and hammer. I don't believe there is any danger of it coming off. It just wiggles some. My 680 has not had this problem.
