another chain ?

O.K., looks like I can use WD 40 to clean my chain, heres my problem. My dealer is 45 miles away. Does NAPA or any other auto parts store sell a good chain lube? I believe my chain is conventional, not the O-Ring type. Thanks

Get a good nosling grease and you should be fine. There are numerous places on the web to get it.

The huge advantage of an O-ring chain is that it is permanently lubed internally. Each pivot is injected with grease at the factory, and the O-ring is just there to hold the grease in place. This means that you never need to actually "lube" the chain internally, all you really need to do is keep a good dry chain wax that won't attract dirt on the outside where it meshes with the sprockets. The wax also keeps the O-rings supple so they won't get brittle and crack.
The huge disadvantage of a non-O-ring chain is that it needs a wet lube, that will attract dirt. The dirt sticks to the lube, and it just becomes grinding paste and wears everything out much, much quicker. Leave the non-O-ring chains for the motocross guys, who will be cleaning them after every ride anyway.
So, why not just mail order a new O-ring chain from somewhere like Rocky Mountain. They will even cut it to your desired length. No doubt, you are due for new sprockets too, so good time to just change them out as well!
While you are at it, order yourself some Maxima Chain Wax!
