E-ton Viper 90 VS. Polaris Predator 90
#1
Need some input here. Buying my grandson A new quad. Which is better the E-ton Viper 90 or the Polaris Predator 90? About $600.00 dollars difference in price. Is the safety feature's on the Predator really worth that much? Any input would be appreciated.

No I don't think the Polaris has anything over the Eton. I would advise you go with the 4 stroke in either case ,so getting the quad wet will not be a problem, burnd out stators suck. Save the $ 600.00 bucks and get him some ridding gear. Chest protector, boots ect.

What safety features?....The polaris is a little wider and has a little better front suspension..The power is about the same on both(two stroke models)....The viper has better brakes(rear disc) and a little better overall reliability(in my opinion) with some neat extra's,horn lights etc...The prices should be almost identical

I agree with going for the 4 stroke unless your grandson is looking to race. For just general trail riding and such I would go with the cheaper of the 2 and spend extra on any needed riding gear also.
I just wanted to add that i believe there is a bit of a size difference between the 2 models, with the Pred being a little larger. You may want to take that into consideration too.

No the new Predator is available in 4 stroke. Have you looked at the Yamaha 125 utility? Not sure how it compares in size but it may be a better fit if the young one is growing like weed...

cvc42 We all ride sport bike's. Nothing aginst utility's but I don't think he would be happy with it. Look at my photo page and you can see he is not new at the sport.

Far as I know, all the minis still use throttle cables that can stick. Drive by wire is just starting to become a standard feature in cars, I have never heard of it in a quad yet. You can buy a tether kill for $30.00 and wire it into the ignition circuit, so I wouldn't make that a priority. Also, the Predator 90 is a 2 stroke, for '07 Polaris has named the new 4 stroke either Outlaw 90 or Sportsman 90. The Predator is only available as a 50 in '07. If your grandson outgrew the Sun-L, then you are probably going Outlaw as the E-ton 90 is one of the smaller 90's.
