snowplow lifting question

Hey guys I was just wondering what you're using as far as winch rope for raising your plows? I know I've seen 10' sections of the Amsteel especially made for plows.....Any suggestions would be appreciated.......

just my opnion, I laugh when I read about these guys that spend $150 for a special wire-rope for their winch, and you can buy a brand new Gorilla Winch with new cable already on it for $69, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

i use regular ole' utility rope of whatever size will fit the hole in the drum, and a pulley system. this slows down the raise/lower speed and gives you a cheap link to break if you lift too hard.

My point is: I don't understand why some guys spend that much money for a special rope for their winch, it don't make sence to me that a winch rope costs twice as much as a new winch. Its ur money and you have to right to spend it as you please, but maybe there are better things to spend money on, why not buy ur girlfriend a new pair of size 18 jeans?

Well once again your responses never cease to amaze me..........Not sure where you get your prices for stuff but with your mentality it doesn't surprise me that you have no idea what you're talkin about.......If you don't have any help to my question then save your little fingers and don't respond......

JCDEY025, by far the best way to go is with synethic rope but you don't need a full 50' of it. All you need is the 10 ft. piece. I don't even have the loop braided in one end. I figured out how to attach the rope to the drum and plow so I don't need the loop braided into it which cuts the cost at least in half. It costs $10 per rope plus $5 shipping.
