The purple scrambler 500 HO. What year is it?

 

i wanna say 97 or 98...but i might be mistakin

Thanks, found one for $2,500 with paddles, and upgrades.......

 

Make sure it has shaft drive in the front and not the old 3 chain system.
If it is 3 chains it isnt a 500HO just a plain 500.

 

98 should have a driveshaft, its not an H.O. though, the H.O. motor wasn introduced untill 2000.5

are you sure its a 500? it could also be a 400 (2-stroke)

 

98 was the first yr for the HO 0n a Scrambler 2001(2000.5) was first yr for HO on the 500 Sportsman.

 

oh really? guess i knokw less about scramblers than i thought i did.

 

When Polaris brought out the 500 Scrambler in 97 a stock 400 Scrambler would eat it up.In 98 the 500 was beefed up with a bigger cam,bigger valves and a bigger carb.It did so well that the 2001 Sportsman got it in 2000.5.
