Default 2006 Scrambler 500 - K&N, WB Pipe - Rejet?

Hello good folks.

This forum has been so helpful. It was the deciding factor for me to buy the 2006 Scrambler and also which MOD's to research. I bought the bike 2 weeks ago and have enjoyed it very much.

So far, I've bought a K&N Air Filter and just ordered a White Brothers Pipe (I hope it fits! I bought the slip on for the 2003 Scrambler. The part numbers for the 03 & 06 Scrambler are the same. Wish me luck).

The White Brothers Pipe (WB05-055) is a slip on so I'm keeping the stock header pipe. Does this mean I don't have to rejet? I would think I could get by without any changes to the carbs. What do you think?

I'm not interested in changing any of the clutch stuff YET. I'd rather get some time in the bike first.

So thanks for your posts, responses, help and assistance.

Yes rejetting is the only way your going to feel much difference from your mods.

You will need to reset your idle mixtre and change the main jet size to a larger one. Doing this will alow the engine to get more fuel, More air & More fuel=more power. When ever you inprove the volumetric efficiency of an engine more fuel will be needed to maintain proper air fule ratio.

I had the same setup (still do basicly) and there is NO NEED to rejet your 500 with a K&N filter and WB pipe (with the standard 8 discs) The 500 motors come rich from the factory.I didnt rejet until I got my HPD airbox mod.But if you want a crisper responce you can go with a Dynojet jet kit but with just those mods you dont HAVE to do it.
Now get you a Dalton blk/white primary spring and you will be ready to rock.Or ready to really mod it up.

How can you say for sure there is no need to rejet? Air temps change (rejet) alitude maybe different then yours. NOT all quad engines are the same. Have you put an O2 meter on your bike? Thats the only true way to find out wether its rich or lean a plug check is also a very helpful carb tunning tool. But as for saying there is no need to jet is misleading. Best thing to do is install the pipe, and remove the plug clean it and run it, then recheck and go from there.

i beleive that the documentation that comes with the pipe from White bros, says that rejetting is not necessary. but thats prolly just a general statement. your location and altitude might dictate whether or not you need to.

a plug check is always a good idea, but after checking the plug a few times on your 500, i bet youll just leave it alone.

For one thing X is right on what WB recomends on their pipe. And second I have done at least 10 of these mods on Polaris 500s and after a plug check everyone has been right on on plug color.
Now on a 2stroke it is very important to rejet after ANY airflow mod.

Hi gr8one,

I sent you a private message a few days ago about our bikes. It looks as though we purchased the same bike about the same time. Next time you log in to this forum, look on the right hand side of the webpage. You will probably see that you have a private message. It's from me about MOD's.

As for the Pipe - I found that there are a few different pipes available for our bike but most all threads I read seem to give the White Brothers the best review. FTWFLH has a few post on this forum about it and gives it great reviews. Thanks FLTWFLH!

The problem I had was finding this pipe that fit an 06 Scrambler. The websites and online suppliers do not list this pipe to fit our bikes but do fit the 03's. BUT... I read the specs on the 2003 silencer and the 2006 silencer. They are the exact same part number from Polaris. I have to believe this pipe will fit on our bikes; however, before you go out and buy one you may want to wait for me. My pipe should be in sometime next week and I'm going to install it next weekend. I'll get back to you to let you know the results.

If you're interested in doing the research, I have listed the Pipe I purchased and the supplier.
White Brothers E Series - Part number (05-055) sometimes listed as WB05-055.Purchased from HERE. They had to order the pipe from the factory so it may be a delay. The purchase price including shipping was $247.27.

I'll get back to you on how the pipe fits, etc... Keep me in mind if you do other MOD's. It looks like FLTWFLH recommends the Dalton blk/white primary spring. I'm not quite ready to do this but it's probably in the future.

FLWFLH - Do you mind giving us some info on this clutch spring kit? I don't know alot about clutch springs as I've never done any kind of MOD like that. Most of my experience as been on 2 stroke motorcycles.

How difficult? How much $? Power difference? Torque or Speed? ETC...

Thanks folks!

Dino

The Dalton blk/white has a shift rate of 45-143 it will give you a slightly higher engagment speed ,faster shift out(get to top speed faster) and a little higher top rpm.
Great spring for what you will have until you want to do a complete clutch kit or TEAM roller secondary.
I know a guy that has a used one pm me.
