ATV Mag 2-up shoot out - in defence of the X2
#1
I just read the ATV Magazine 2-up shoot out and fully agree with the conclusion that X2 is no match for the competition as a double rider.
However, if the X2 was compared against the Max and the TRV with a focus on work/utility ATV it would shine. Both the TRV and the Max come with optional cargo boxes and they could have easily compared all three in single rider/ cargo carrying mode.
In my opinion, by promoting the X2 as a 2-up, Polaris is taking the focus away from the strengths of the X2. To call the X2 a "real" 2-up is misleading. For '08 Polaris needs a touring version of the X2 with a seat/rack set-up similar to the Max.
The X2 is really only an extended wheelbase single rider that can carry a passenger in a pinch. As a utility ATV it is far superior to the standard Sportsman - it's more stable, has more load capacity and still provides an exceptional ride. The turf mode makes it more manoeuvrable then the either the Max or the TRV.
The X2 may be the best utility ATV available - certainly the best that Polaris offers, and still it is promoted as a 2-up!
