polaris "proof" video
#1
i recieved this infomercial video with my latest atv magazine. i put it in and have watched the 700-800 and 2 up parts. this video is all about polaris, trust me you can tell. watch the riders, you dont even have to watch close. they didnt even run the outlander 650 in the 700 class but they did run the ac650h1 and the 660 griz. as for the 800 class they did have and 800 outty and they talked about how the aluminum rims were taking a beating? you guys that have 800's know the wheels are tuff. i have a set on my 650. you clearly can tell they let out on the can am, and in the pulls the 800sp out pulls the can am? ya right. pulls are a big thing around here and it takes 800sp's with alot more than just a pipe to out pull our can am's. our 650's come out #1 in the modified class. and they are stock. with tires. thats it. there has been fist fights over that. you guys watch the vid tell me what ya think. IMO IT IS A BOUGUS MOVE TO HELP POPO SALES! just to say "ya we're the toughest" at least the can am guys will show their losses........mud bog with the 500 outty, and in the pulls with the 400, i can tell you a fact that if they both would of been xt's with the act tires that wouldnt of even happened. thats not an ego can am sided thing either. its all in the tires.........

All the manufacturers make there videos, The 760 will out pull the 800 outy cause of the weight difference, I like the outty t but the sportsman are hell of a machine, I'm not going to say one is better than the other because that is a personal opinion. I have had better luck with my ds650 than i did with my predator, The ds is a tough machine, Having problems with the sprag clutch but only cause i put a cdi box on it that made the engine kit back. Polaris dont need help in sales the machine sales it self.

thats the thing people dont understand about the can am vids though. there are representatives from every company of atv they use, and at least 1 lawyer for each of those comany's also. brp has 5 lawyers on hand to deal with any discrepincey. that is why you always hear about the pro riders and independent judges. the independent judges are the other companys reps. i can see that the poo is heavier yes but equal the field run all the same tires on all machines. i even think so about the can am vid.

Now BRP may have very well have hired an actual independent testing lab to perform the various tests and challenges with the various ATVs. I would be utterly stunned if any of those ATVs were provided by BRPs competitors. I can't see any sane corporation doing such an insane thing.
In regards to the independent testing. Independent testing is only so independent when the independent tester is being paid by one of the parties being tested. While I think the DVD showed a reasonably well done test and some of the results are obviously valid, one must be suspicious given the fact that money was flowing from BRP to the group doing the testing. I'm sure this gave the test a slight advantage to BRP. The tests were designed in such a way to put the Outlander in the best light and expose the weaknesses in the competition. If a particular test showed some glaring weakness in the Outty you can bet it wasn't going to end up in the testing on DVD filming day. Not if the "Independent Lab" wants to get paid. If some test consistently showed the Outlander getting beat by the competition you can bet the"Independent Lab" found a way to alter the parameters of the test so that the Outlander did better or they ditched it all together. BRP was paying the bills and they had to get a result BRP wanted. (a side note - anyone in the somewhat shady side of the marketing and manufacturing biz knows there are tons of so-called independent testing and research labs who will certify, research or say anything you want and will provide beautifully produced professional documentation as long as you cut them a check)
The point is that just because someone conducts a test under some so-called "independent testing lab" or whatever means precisely d*ck especially when the test-ee is paying for the test. Is it more fair that an in-house testing video? Marginally. Maybe. Take either one healthy dose of skepticism.

this information came from the rep for my local can am dealer, who's to say can am didnt buy all the bikes in the test and then invite the reps? i was just saying watch the "proof" vid and watch the riders and the actions of the bikes. tell me what you think.

What I felt was telling on that "Proof" vid is that many of the smaller cc machines have as good or better times on the steeple chase as the big bore machines. The rock garden was only a small portion, there were plenty of places for the larger engines to open up and flex some muscle, yet this didn't translate in the times? Ah well, same for Polaris using the fact no one accepted the duel invite as proof thier quads are the toughest. They still could have bought the machines and hired the independant lab to run the test if they were so sure.

As far as changing tire on quads to run the test I think you should run the tires the quad is sold with. If you run a race the quads should be 100% stock nothing added the way the factory made them. If you don't like the tire your quad comes with then talk to your rep an tell them get some better tire on these machines.

I think that they are just trying to get back at Cam Am by putting product test videos out and rig it so the Polaris's seem to be better than anything eles , where Can Am seems to be honest . i think Polaris is kinda mad that Can Am has a better 4 wheeler and they honestly proved it on the test videos , I know the nest 4 wheeler i get will be a Can Am that for sure.
