#1
Been a while and wanted to say hello to all my old friends.........Well the business failed..........My mom came out great in the end and I a back to operating heavy equipment again...well actually between jobs right now..........Just wanted to say Thanks to all those that helped while trying to make it to the next step in life...Mario, Glenn, Chris, Mr. and Mrs. Cynik, Jed. Been busy as you know what trying to finish up with the business and get back into being a working man........ohh well I think when it all comes down to it I enjoy the heavy equipment world more than anything so...I'm going to stick with it for a while..........Be a year or two and we will see you at the dunes.
Thanks,
Tom
Thanks,
Tom

Now don't get the wrong idea, there is no gold laying around the pit, which by the way is a 1/2 mi.wide, 1/2mi long and a little over a 1/2mi deep. It's a very big hole in the ground, all the gold looks like regular dirt and comes out by way of chemicals in a mill. But they are always looking for cab lizards. Otherwise known as a heavy equipment operator, most of em won't leave the cab until quitting time. Mostly truck drivers, driving a 320 ton haul truck, more or less a huge end dump truck with about 16ft tall tires, and the engine produces 2500hp out of 16 cyl Detroit. About like having 16 350 chevy's under your foot.

Sorry for hijacking the thread bomb. But yes the power is huge, but sometimes when they puke, it can get real bad real fast. I've seen them come apart while loaded and then we have to tow it to the shop and swap the engines out, it usually takes about 12hrs to get the engine out and another 12 to install a new one. We do this at least 6 or 7 times a year even when it's snowin. Even the support equipment is big, graders, or blades as we call em, run on 5ft tall tires and have a 24ft mowboard, thats the part that contacts the ground.
Again, sorry for hijacjing the thread.
