Can I use carb cleaner instead of UNI air filter cleaner?

Ever spray carb cleaner in a foam cup?

The old style stuff melted the styrofoam cups. With all the epa stuff the have out now, maybe it wouldn't, but I wouldn't take that chance. You may save 5.80, but how much is a new filter?

Good point, I might have to try it out on my stock filter since I have an aftermarket filter on my bike.

With over 20yrs in small engine repair the best thing i ever used to clean foam air filters, was and still is a good dish washing liquid ; dawn joy or anyother grreese cutting soap ! I never use carb cleaner because it will destroy the foam filters ! ..................williebee

same here, on the 250's the pocket bike, weed-eater, any foam filter I got to clean I use dish soap and hot water, just let it dry good and oil it a bit and your set.

Toil cleaner and lube has been great to my foam filters, you may want to give them a try. If you have an aftermarket filter I would use what they suggest. I am not an expert on this by any means I just know I paid almost 70 smackers for my K&N and only 12 for their cleaner If you only talking 5 or 10 bucks difference it is safer to just get the good stuff
