Whats up about the Polaris 525 KTM Engine

It sure would be nice if it was in the pred instead. I like the fact that the motor is proven and has big bore and stroker parts already out for it. That independent rear just doesnt appeal to me.

If it is successful, and I don't see how it can't be, I'd look for them to put it in the Pred. May be a couple of years though. If not, I'll bet you see a lot of people trying to find a motor from the Outlaw.

it will definately give the ds650 a run for its money, unless the ds650 loses 100lbs, then they will be the same weight and i think the ds650 might have a bit more power
What is so amazing about ktms anyway? why are they better than other engines? is it bettercuz its lighter?
The ktm450dirtbike is pretty good too, it pumps out a whopping 59hp stock, im pretty sure thats really good compared to the kx450f, crf450r, rm-z450, and yz450f,
Do the ktm dirtbikes have so much power stock cuz they have better exhaust and higher flowing air filters stock for stock
How do the ktm engines compare to the big 4 when you mod them all to the MAX? are they all equal then?
Do they need a TON of maintainance, the 400cc quads dont touch the 450s, but the 450s need a ton of maintainance compared to 400s

The 525 ktm is faster than the 450s only because of the fact it has some performance parts on it from factory and that it is a 525 and not a 450....I think i seen one racing some modded 450 bikes up the dunes a year or so back and it was comming down to the holeshot most of the time....unless it was the 450 ktm i was seeing. I think the other 450 dirtbikes are putting out the numbers and keeping up to ktm.....you dont see much if any ktm 450s winning any track races...why? Although if i wanted a dirtbike the most appealing bike to me is that 525 of theres....DAMN its nice.

i wonder why ktm doesnt win a lot of MX if they are so good, only about 1 in 20 dirtbikes in each class were KTMs this year at the Walton Transcan MX.
But they might have crappy riders, i dont like the ktm plastics tho, specially the 525 gas tank and all the front fenders, they have 2 points on them with a dip in the middle, like an @$$ crack

KTM is more European than American. Check out some of the circuits over there, and you'll see a whole lot of KTM.

KTM's do really well in the desert. This past UAE Desert Challenge, out of the top 12, 11 where KTM's (1 Honda in 8th).
From what I have seen of them, they do require a tad more maintenace and like to leak oil.
