Thoughts on ITP Mud Lite SP tires on sport quad
#1
I just ordered a pair of rear 20x11/9's and 9x9 rims for my 400ex because I heard the stock tires suck in the snow. Has anyone had any experience with the new ITP's or will i be the first?

Saw a guy riding desert with them the other day. Didn't have a chance to ask him how they were working out. In general, mud tires are pretty lame for conditions around here.

Yeah that's what I hear about riding in the west for the most part. Where I ride in Jersey, it's the exact opposite, all I ride in is unfavorable conditions like deep thick mud, wet sandand clay, deep puddles with all kinds of debris in them, snow, horse manure, you name it. If it's warm and dry out I ride one of my harleys instead, lol.

The Mud Lites are on, they look real good on the 9x9 rims, still at 20 psi to make sure the bead stays seated, but I bet when I bring them down to 4 psi they will have an almost flat profile, which would be a first for any utility quad size mud lite. The height is exactly the same as the stock 20x10-9 tires, and they are very light like they advertise. I'll post how they ride after the weekend.

The Mud Lite SP's ROCK! I was out riding for 4 hours in the mud and sand today TRYING to get stuck and it never happened. I ran them at 4psi, the max is 7. I tried everything from going through screaming at the top of second gear, to going out to the middle and inching my way back out. And on the sand, these tires cut right through. They slide nice through corners in hardpack and gravel too. The only thing I can really say bad about them is that they don't absorb bumps to well, both large and small. I think part of that comes from them being a 6 ply non-radial, and the only thing I have to compare them to are the stock radials. All in all, I think ITP has finally made a decent replacement for the Blackwater tire that they discontinued.

They seem to work real well when reversed too, even though the arrow on the sidewall only goes one direction. I think they'd get chewed up using them that way if you're riding in real hard stuff though.
