what kind of tools do you need to rejet? just screwdrivers and your hands, or also special instruments that can measure really tiny distances accurately?

just a screwdriver to take the bowl off and then depending on ur jets you may need a screwdriver to take them out or a small cresent wrench.

Make sure you knwo how many turns each jet is before you go taking them out and putting them back in or you will mess you jetting up so pay attention to detail.

I sure do miss those little red Main Jet Plastic wrenches the ones with a 6mm on 1 side and 1/4" on the other, just a great tool to have in the tool box (For Keihin Jets) (Makuni Jets Screwdriver)

What? I have always put my jets in till they tighten up... how can how many turns they have effect the flow through the center hole?

there is a certain amount of turns you will need to turn the jets to run just right to match factory settings or whatever the aftermarket company tells you...depending on how far you have your main jet from the needle will make you run either lean or more rich just like if you moved the clip on the needle it would do the same thing...understand ?

Sure i understand but its not like there is even barely a 16th of a inch extra movement after its tight enough to not fall out. You have to put it a certain tightness so it dont leak or fall out and you pretty much cant overtighten it....it just stops and thats that. But yea that does make sense i just dont think you will ever need to worry about that little of movement.

Actually i think he is still talking about the jets because the airfuel adjustment screw has nothing to do with how far the needle goes into the main jet.

I'm talkign about the seat of the jets in the carb because if you loosend the screws all the way out the screws would wind up falling out of the seat...sorry for not clearly explaiming what I was saying before.
