400cc FMF Banshee
#1
Hey Guys...My buddy and I just bought 2 new banshee's last week. We already have 2 440ex's with the IMS big bore Kit which is awesome. Our local dealer, who is installing FMF's SST pipes, reeds boost bottle and jetting suggested we get the FMF Banshee Power Valved "power-up kit". It comes complete with entire cylinder, head, pistons, rings, gaskets, intake manifolds and all that crap. Have any of you installed this on your Banshee's? FMF claims this kit will make my banshee a "full fledged 400cc" quad....my dealer says the quad will be fast as hell. What do you guys think? Is it worth $1900.00 per quad plus labor?

Are you talking about putting an actual powervalve cylinder on it? If so, It depends on what you plan on doing with the quad. Power valves work great for a trail or motocross motor, where you still want to retain the bottom end, but for a drag quad they are basically useless. Yamaha uses powervalves on their SRX 700 sled. Most guys that build prostock race sleds out of them either remove the whole powervavle, or wire it wide open. Get some HP numbers and see what it would cost to make a regular motor build those kinda numbers, and then see what is left of the bottom end.
