Default 2 wheeler question

Carb float hung up and some dummy had plugged the carb. overflow pipe with a screw...lots of gas was dumped inside the top end. It locked up. Looks like I might have caught it before it did major damage but I can't seem to get all the gas out from inside the top end. Piston is off and rod still connected, I have stuffed strands of rag down in there with a screwdriver and it always comes back soaked. I don't plan to split it. I think I will re-ring it and see if I was lucky and got by without crank bearing damage. Guess I will pick it up with the lift pole on my tractor and let it hang upside down in the air for a day to drain the insides. Anyone had this problem? 2 stroke by the way....Thanks This is on a 1978 DTE 175 Yamaha.
