I'm looking for a 500cc honda 4x4, the rubi has the spiffy hydrostatic transmission and liquid cooled, i love the part of it being liquid cooled but the trans scares me, i've done some investigating on these fourms and there seems to be a few problems with the trans. givin, people who have problems come to this site to fix em, but still there are lots and the trans is so expensive to replace. now the fourtrax forman has the proven conventional auto clutch foot shift and air cooled. i have no prob using my foot, infact a complete manual seems like it'd be fun, haha. i know, not pratical. but the air cooled is the down fall, my 400ex is air cooled and never had a problem but i do a great deal of riding an good clips of speed, so it doesn't weigh so heavy on my mind, but i would be using this forman for slow trail riding, hill climbs, and hopefully tons of mud.

basicly what i'm asking is for any ones point of view on the 2, mabe if you have had one or the other what u think about it. i have found tons of things on the rubicon, its been out for a while, but as far as the forman 500, not so long and not so many. any help is greatly apreciated.

I started with a 300 fourtrax. Its 14yrs old, and runs like new still. Thats enough proof for the fourtrax for me

 

Do a search on "attention rubicon owns" and youll find some very serious discussion on the rubicon.

i went to 3 dealerships today and the last one brought to my attention the rancher 420, i'm diggen it so far. not so sure on the price he gave me thow for it, 5,322.43 out the door. he also gave me 6,542.84 out the door on a trx500fm, (aka forman 500 s). that one sounds like a better deal by far comared to honda msrp price listed on there web page. well any one that has input on the 420 holla, i'm verry interested

well i retract my last statment about the 420 not being as resonable as the 500, haha i was looking at the msrp for a 4x2. duh.
