I am new to Atvs and i want to get a sport atv. i would ride trails and maybe get into some racing but i dont have alot of money to spend so i would probably go with a used atv. I am 6 foot 170 pounds. i have ridden a 400ex and i loved it and had no problem handling its power. what atvs would you recommend that i look into. i was also looking at 250r and lt 250r. my old neighbor was Nate Frees and i know he raced a 250r and i could probably find one cheaper than a newer year atv and i could fix it up if needed. any help would be great. O and i was looking to spend around $3000 or so less if possible

 

The Z400 is probably your best bet. Great all-around machine. Handling is excellent, and it has more motor then the EX.

Don't get a 250R, unless you are looking for a "project" quad and you like to wrench.

 

stay away from the LT250r


you cant go wrong with any of the 400 4 strokes.

i personaly would get a honda TRX250R . there great bikes. there good reliable bikes. but they need more mechanical ability being a 2 stroke but nothing a smart guy could not handle. and it wont eat you alive parts are cheap and plentifull .. reliable,like I said they dont break down left and right there well build hondas. mine goes for years and years with out any trouble.and there very cool. a 1988 with a headlight is about the finest 4 wheeler i ever seen.

 

I would recommend the z first then the 400ex both are great reliable bikes and either way you can't go wrong but make sure they were taken care of. O and I forgot to mention welcome to the forums

 

Man i bought a z400 monday and I LOVE IT!! it will fly and its great in the hills. IM a 180 pound 6foot 14 year old!!

 

stay away from the 250 i hear some good things about the z400 but i'm a 400ex fan!!
