i am looking for a machine to put to work. i want a 500 cc. what will give me the best torque. for pulling . what are the problems that everyone is having with the different machines? how do the belt drives hold up?

Belts are fine as long you use low range when you are pulling something or are in the mud and sometimes if you are just putting around as far as a good hard working 500 i would say Polaris hands down go to ther web site and check it out polarisindustries.com Text
There Sportsman 500 is a nice machine.. well i wish you good luck in your quest and stay safe.

The classic work quad it the Honda Foreman 500. Simple, reliabable, with a manual transmission. Can be had with either a foot shift or the electronically shifted ES option. Not loaded down with a bunch of "features" that just drive up the price, like so many bigger utes are. Doesn't need a low range, because they just put on a very low 1st gear (again, keeping things simple!)......

This is going to turn into a brand war. I can tell you this. There are three brands made for work. My order of the three would be A tie between Honda and Arctic Cat for first choice, and then Polaris
I think they are all good for work, but have to give the reliability to Honda and Arctic Cat. I agree Honda is simple, but i like the speedrack for quick tool hookups, 2" reciever for trailering, and the Differential lock with the best ground clearance all on the Arctic Cats.
The Honda is the longest lasting quad ive ever owned so far , 14yrs old and still runs. (Honda fourtrax 300) But now days, they should all last that long. The belt drives are just as good now days also, lasting around 10,000 miles on a belt with proper use
Polaris has good storage, and a good reputation for work, but there have been alot of reliability issues latley that i keep hearing about. I personally wouldn trust a Polaris right now. But you should ride these three for sure (Honda, Arctic Cat, Polaris) and see for yourself

Alright kickass and V2 be nice. Anyway you 2 are just jealous that you don't have a Rincon
But V2 is right on about a work quad. The Foreman is a truck. The other two are more refined. With IRS they are a better all around quad. But I personally don't like Polaris for reasons that I won't get into right now. But all three are very good and strong working quads. Find the one that suits you best as far as fit and ride.
