Default 185s carb/throttle

I hope you guys can help. 1st thing i bought a 185s for 100bucks and it looks brand new the only thing is i can get it to run pefect. At idle it misses just a real tiny bit and When i let it idle then give it WOT it bogs out . I don't know alot about carbs this is really my first 1 I never worked on them . But i took the carb apart & cleaned it real good & put a carb kit on except the 1 screw that is set but the factory . Could the miss be a bad exhaust valve or is runin to rich i cant figure it out. I looked at almost every thread thats how i got to understand a little bit . I just cant get it tuned in ? Thanx in advanced
Also the plug gets black so that means ..... Too rich?

Sounds like you need to adjust your air mixture screw. Turn it in all the way tight, then back it out 2 turns, and adjust as needed. Also, first check your air filter. That won't have a huge impact on your running rich, but it may have something to do with it bogging down when goosing it. I'm no carb expert, but I had a very similar problem with mine a while back.

Does it smoke at all?

I thought he said he just put a rebuild kit in it??? I guess that could be the culprit, but unlikely if you put a carb rebuild kit in, and your petcock/filter is working properly.

It smokes a little only when u give it throttle . Today I got a new carb for a 185 I put it on & still the same result. I just cant figure it out. The fuel/air ratio screw is preset from factory.

sorry about my last post

i didnt read your whole post

as far as the preset from the factory mixture screw

if you remove the bowl,,,,the screw will turn full circle,,,right? is it set to 2 turns,,,,from when you put the rebuild kit on?

does the engine have good compression?

where did you find a rebuild kit? I was unsuccessful when i was looking for a rebuild kit for my friends 185 (3 years ago)
