Help I messed up my new Honda 420!!!
#1
Well I went and picked up my new420 last night. today I went and bought a new gas caddy on wheels. Well I went to fill the ATV up and there was a little O-ring on the end of the ful nossel. Well that darn thing fell off into my gas tank. here is what I have tried UNSUCCESSFULLY...
1. Filled the tank up all the way and sloshed around hoping it would float to the top.
2. Sifened all of the gas out.
Any one have any ideas?
DO I need to be concered about this?
BTW this machine is AWESOME!!!!

I have tried that. However with the new fuel injection it almost seems impossible. There is a ton of stuff hooked to the gas tank. Should I take it to the dealer?

I assumed since it came off a gas caddy, that it would be viton or otherwise fuel proof.
I suppose if it were mine, though, I'd probably want to get it out. With the tank drained, can you set the machine on it's back rack, or find a way to tip it on it's side w/o hurting anything? Maybe you could see it and fish it out...

Drain gas completely, get a shop vac and couple feet of garden hose, and duct tape. Put the garden hose into the shop vac hose and duct tape the crap out of it, to create a good seal. Use the garden hose and stick it in the tank and vaccuum the o-ring out. Make take several attempts, but it will come out eventually. I have use this method with smaller hose sizes to extract valve tappet nuts that seem to like to fall down into the oil pan. Good luck!

Also, unless they changed a bunch, a person would have to remove the fuel tank to adjust the valves, so I would presume it wouldn't be that complicated. Perhaps you could leave it in there until it's due for it's break in valve adjustment, and then you (or the dealer) could shake the O ring out while the tank is off anyway.
If you are going to keep the quad for a long time and/or if you are going to do your own work, a factory service manual would probably be a good investment.

Can you see it some how? I have not seen inside a new Honda 420 tank. With a flashlight in low lighting conditions, could you take a long open/close thumb claw that can be purchased at sears and reach down and retrieve the O ring.
