I need a drive belt for a 98 Grizzly.Dealer price seems outrageous compared to price for Polaris belts. Does any one know of a cheaper alternative.

I was quoted with $120 for a Kodiak belt, then THEROCK said he knew where to get one for $60. You might want to get his email from one of his posts and see where he got the price from.

I would imagine Polaris belts are cheaper because they are "cheaper". They seem to be more of a disposable item. It seems like every Polaris rider I have ever heard of has had to "learn" how to ride their quad so they don't burn up the belt. It seems that most, if not all of them, have had to replace a belt at least once. The Grizzly belt will take anything you can throw at it, in my experience. At this point in time I haven't heard a single Grizzly rider tell a story about burning up a belt. I know I can ride mine all day in and out of the mud, up and down hills, in hi range without a single problem. It may cost more but it is an infintely stronger belt, apparently! I guess you get what you pay for.

I would like to know for my experience how many miles do you have on your machine and is the belt done or just wore, what kind of riding do you do. I am trying to see what kind of mileage we can get on these belts.
My dealer told me the other day they have a guy who came in with a 98 who has 10.000 miles and is still on the original belt. Now that is what i call getting your money's worth. We might pay more but i'll pay that for that kind of mileage.
THanks

I think the Polaris belt subject is one of those urban legends. I ride with five other Polaris owners, and I've yet to see someone burn up a belt. My buddy with a 95 Polaris just changed his original belt.

I have about 2500 miles on the machine. It gets a lot of hard use on our Christmas tree farm. The ground is very steep. During the Spring and Summer I carry a 16 gal. spray tank on the front rack and a 27 gal. tank on the rear.Thats about 370 lbs. I also tow very heavy loads with a trailer. Plus have carried a lot of very heavy loads on hunting trips in the mountains of Oregon,Idaho, and Wyoming. The belt is not completly gone by any means. It is starting to slip pretty good though, especialy in high range. My oppinion is that under more normal use the belt would go thousands more miles.
