Default 440 EX big bore reliability?

I am thinking hard about doing the 440 big bore kit on my 04, how are they for power and reliability? I also have a slip on exhaust system (HMF BB carbon with a stock header), is that OK or do I have to get another aftermarket header? Thanks in advance

Are you doing this because you want more motor, or because it is worn out and you need to bore it anyway???

I would say that we see a lot more problem posts from people who have 440's than we see from folks who are stock..........

Go with a stroker.

There has been some problems with the 440. They are mainly head gasket and head studs. The higher the compression, the sooner the problem. If you stay below 11.5:1 compression, the 89mm(436cc) will hold its studs. Sparky says to stroke it. I agree if you can afford it. I have an 87mm stroked 4mm. It is a monster and has ran for about three years. The only problem I have is with worn out grips. The stroker is about 800 dollars more, though, once you split the cases and what not.
