Got a lot of looks from Snowmobilers today!!!

I was just wondering if anyone knows why Snowmobilers have such an issue with ATV's out in the winter. We didn't tear up the trails or anything and we were very respectful. Why should the ATV riders be forced to put their toys away in the winter? We were smart enough to buy something we can use all year round! If it snowed in August you know they would be on our trails.

I have no idea except the ruts from tires after a while. I share trails around my area with snowmobilers but these are small ones not major trails. Enjoy the winter fun!

Sledheads like nice groomed trails. Quads tend to ruin there grooming. Personally, I don't ride sleds as they are just to expensive for the amount of use you get. That is another reason they get cranky with us quad riders though...

you cant even ride atvs on ITS trails in maine w/out getting a big fine unless you put tracks on and register it as a snowsled on top of that which is another 34.00.

i own two polaris quads and one snowmobile , i would much rather ride the quads...it is amost febuary and the sled has not even left my yard yet..... i would sell it , but that would be one less toy we used to have state trails less than a mile down the road but they shut them down about 7 years ago(bummer)..

Quads leave ruts in the trails thats why they dont like the atv's on the snow trails.
I explained to a snowmobiler this last week. What some folk dont realise is the vast majority of the atv riders/ clubs are the ones who keep the trails clear of trees ect... He was a little peeved at me for riding on the trails untill he heard that. Thats when his attitude changed.
When I see them get mad and I am not tearing up the trails I do not to have too much pity.
Whan was the last time you saw a snowmobile carrying a chainsaw?
I try to not tear up the trails. I try to be very respectful of it. After all everyone is out to have a good time.

I have a quad and a sled. My 2 cents is don't worry about it. The snowmobiles tear up the trails too. Just ride as long as you are on a legal trail. They will get over it.

Sled riders seem to be kinda bitter. I think it's because of how much time the sleds sit.
take MN your lucky to get 3 weeks of good ridinga year.
Thats insain to spend 7 8 grand on a sled that gets used 3 weeks a year.
but i learned not to tell sled riders this they get all pissy and start this whole rant on why sleds are better then atv's.
haha
oh well.
