brute 750 tire upgrade

Your quad can take 27" w/o mods.
As you've guessed bigger OD tires, added weight and grip/friction from aggressive tread cause lots of wear and tear and stress to your tranny, suspension and drive-line parts. And, of course, slower acceleration. But the quad looks cool with big wheels.

A little power loss? I lost a lot of power when I put 14" ITP rims w/ 27" Mudlite XL on my 06 Brute 650i. I'm now in the process of trying to compensate by addding a maroon primary and a dynatek CDI. My top end dropped like a rock, from about 66-67mph to about 58-60. I was contemplating waiting until my clutch spring came in before I put the CDI in, but I might do it today as I'm really interested in how much the DYNA will compensate.
Even with the 27" Mudlite on 14" rims, there is still a TON of room under the fenders and nothing is even remotely close to rubbing. I would say you can probably go larger than 27" and you'll be fine w/o a lift kit, however you will be lacking in the power department. I will have to admit though that I personally think these ITP ML XL's run a little on the small side

I guess it all depends. I dont ride agressive so maybe it robbed more power than what I know. I do like the way the bike handles now. I say go for 27's if you are a conservative rider and want more ground clerance. On the other hand if you like going fast, you may want to reconsider.

Stun I run the ITP mudlite XTR's, which is a radial tire, far heavier than the normal mudlite. I defintely recommend 14 inch rims if you trail ride, & can afford it, they handle much much better than the 12 inch rims. There is significant power loss, especially the hole shot. The cheapest fix (& you will get all the power back) is a $99 dollar Moose Plug & Play power module.

i have 27" Bighorns and could not tell a whole lot of loss. i don't race, tho. i realize that i did loose power, but without racing someone, i have no way of seeing the loss. i could care less about top speed, tho. i haven't done a WOT run since break-in.i have no problem with belts, either. i do have the EPI black secondary, but that is very close to stock.

I was going to do the EPI secondary but it was so close to stock, I figured I'd just try the Maroon Primary first. Worse case scenario I just have to dig back into the clutch. I'm going to put some clutch weights in eventually, depending upon whether or not I like the Maroon & Stock spring setup.
