transmission got water in it put it in the back of the truck and it got below freezing that night it wouldnt back out of the truck so pulled it out. started it up and shifted into 1st gear so try to get things worked loose but now it is stuck in first gear. we changed the oil twice but still no luck. anybody think of a way to get the tranny unlocked?
also does anybody know if the motor will crank if its not in gear?

Is it an ES or standard shift. If it's an ES, try shifting w/ the manual shifter. If it shifts manually, you know the problem is electrical. If not, it's mechanical and then removal of the front engine cover is required for diagnosis.

The engine will not crank or start unless you are in neutral. Only other way is to bypass the neutral switch to make the machine think it's in neutral.

it is manual shift only and when you pull up on the shifter, it has the same feel as if it was already in the highest gear and when u push down on the shifter, it acts and sounds like its shifting but doesnt.
how would i go around the neutral switch? i dont have a manual yet..should be here this coming wednesday tho

if ice is in the tranny it would be in the motor too. they share the same oil.(i think) and i dont really think that a little bit of ice would stop it from enguaging into the gears.( couldnt be that much water could it?) what about the rear differential?

i did the k&n and exhaust along with it. it is quite a bit more low end, not much more top. im getting some 27 inch bugs or gators soon. i now have 26. it brought my top end back up to what is was with stock tires around 50. i wouldnt have done it if my engine didnt throw a rod and destroy everything. but it is nice to know that i got a lil more than those other ranchers!!
