2005 400 LE? Reviews
#1
I am buying a new atv and here is my delimma. I have a chance to buy a used AC 400 LE (2005) for a very good price. It only has 2.5 hours on it. It retails for 4700 and I think I could get it for more like 3500. I would like some information on this quad. I want a quad that will take me anywhere, and that is fun on the trails. I do not need to break any land speed records, but I do not want to be left behind on the trails.
How does the AC 400 ride? Does it have plenty of power? How is the handling? How would it compare to a Vinson 500 or KQ 450 which are two of my other choices.
I would not even consider this quad brand new b/c I think that AC's are a little overpriced new, and I would probably get one a little bigger machine if I buy new. But if it is going to save me $3000 I have to consider it. I Like AC's, especially the way they look. I also have heard that they are reliable. I also like the suspension. Although I am not crazy about the extra weight they carry. I do like the fact that the LE is loaded with a winch, bumpers, mag wheels, tires, etc.
I am a pretty big guy (265 lbs). Is a 400 big enough to carry my fat butt around at a rate of speed that is fun on the trails? Will a 400 carry my girth up any hill I want to climb?
My other quad options are a KQ 450 for 5799, a KQ 700 for 6499, and a vinson for 5399.
Thanks for your help.

With a light weight like you onboard, the 400 will have no problems on the trails. My '05 400i Manual totes my 295# around just fine and goes everywhere the rider has the skill to go (and will hurt you if you try to go where you don't have the skill to go). I go everywhere the 500 and up guys go on the trails. When you get out on a road and your top end will be less than the bigger engines, but more horsepower will always be faster. Oh yeah as my gas mileage is much better than the bigger motors.

I looked at the AC 400 LE today. It is a really nice quad. It only has 23 miles on it. So it is not even broke in yet.
I was going to ride it, but we could not get it started (b/c it has sat outside for the last few months in the snow and ice). I am not sure why it would not fire up, but he is going to take it to get it looked at.
It is loaded c/ winch etc. It sure looks like it would go anywhere.
Thanks for the input.
