Default z400 or 400ex!!

Ok I am planning to buy a atv within the next week. I have been doing research on what to buy and I have narrowed it down to a 400ex or 400z. I grew up riding dirtbikes and have a sportbike. I have no experiance with atvs, but I decided to swith to atvs becuase all my friends ride atvs. I am 5'10 around 160lbs. I will be mostly trail riding. I want something with a little spunk but nothing crazy. So is it gonna the z400 or the 400ex....or maybe something else (predator, 450r...)

I just took my new Z out this weekend and it was much better than my friends EX, The suspension is better and the power is better. A real plus is that it also cost less. Then with the money you save you can pipe, elimate the air box and rejet it and really wake it up. Plus still only spend about as much as you would on a stock EX.
Just my .02

If you're just looking for a fun ride, stay with the 400's.

The ex is a rock solid ride. Dependable as they get.

The z is a dependable ride as well. But, it does have a little more responsiveness (new word?) with a few mods than the ex.

May just come down to which feels more comfortable to you when you sit on them.

Overall, either one would be a good choice.

I like the EX for very tight slower technical trails, because the engine will lug down and you can idle through nasty stuff in 1 st gear..

Everywhere else, I would pick the Z.

Well i got an 01 400ex and it is super reliable. But the Z comes with better suspenison. My 400 runes like the day i bought it. lots of power good fell. only reason i bought the 450 is because i am going to start racing
