Outlander 400 vs Honda 420
#1
I'll be buying 2 new ATVs in the next couple of months. I use them for work in the Alberta Oil Patch. Alot of time is spent driving down old cut lines and 'floating' through muskeg. I've narrowed my choice down to 2 quads: 2007 Can-Am 400 H.O. XT and the 2007 Honda TRX420FM, they're both about the same price (cnd$10,000 total), including tax, winch and extended warranty (Honda Canada sells "Honda Plus" warranty). I need a reliable cold weather ATV (we work below 0 Fahrenheit). I need a good donkey not a big race horse. I have a some questions for the forum:
1. Does Can-Am offer the 400 H.O. XT with a manual transmission ?
2. Does the Can-Am 400 H.O. XT have E.F.I. ?
3. What are the advantages of E.F.I. ?
4. Can the Apache track system be fitted to the 400 model ?
5. What is your opinion on the differences between the 2 models ?
Thanks for your time in helping me out :-)

my dad has a 2006 400 outlander XT...they dont offer auto tranny as far as i know...its not efi
but it is one hell of a work horse...it outpreforms my buds 450 honda foreman in everything we do...I always have to winch him out ( his stock honda tires are small as hell...the outty has like tractor tires on the XT package LOL)
i always drive the outty in the winter...it was -17 yesturday and i was out for about 2 hours in DEEP snow and it ran perfect...
cant say much about the new honda 420 rancher...i hear good things about it and honda are extremely realiable bikes and im pretty sure honda gives alonger warranty, but i suggest riding both before picking...
canam has a shootout DVD between like 5 bikes, might be pretty biased since its made by can am but it shows all the goodies that the outlander has that others dont Like visco-lock 4x4...helps a lot!

how can you say your dad has an outy but it dont come in Auto? they only come with the full auto CVT....
the can am is a great machine, but Efi is better in cold weather so you migth want to jump up to the 500EFI outlander
goodluck
