Default 2004 scrambler tranny fluid

I recently bought a 2004 scrambler 500 and am going to be changing the fluids soon. I have read on here about people using regular Mobil1 0W-40 motor oil in the tranny and other people using synthetic Dextron III along with a few other things. My question is what is the best to use and is there a chance the 0W-40 or Dextron III will hurt the tranny at all? The nearest place for me to get the Polaris brand fluids is about 40 miles away so I'm looking for an alternative.

Any help is appreciated.

10-30 or 10-40 motor oil of your choice.

you can order/purchase anything online you need for your polaris and have it in front of your porch within days. personally i would purchase the brand that polaris says you should use.

i always thought to use the recommended polaris lube as well, but after tearing it apart twice to replace a stretched reverse chain, i decided to try something new. i have been using a mixture of 0W40 and lucas synthetic oil treatment, and this is the longest its ever been working...
