I have been riding with my friend recently and he has been pulling monster wheelies. He just won't tell me how though. What is the clutch technique used for popping a wheelie with a raptor? If someone could please help me out I would be grateful.

I have a raptor and this is how I do them. I start off in first.....I stay in first for about a 1/2 second...just enough to get the front wheels up real fast....I then use the clutch to shift to second....I stay in second for a long part of the wheelie....I then shift to third....if I have a good wheelie going I can use the clutch but normally I don't....from there on I just have the balance point and can ride it up to fourth. I haven't been able to go any higher because my back right tire is low and I start to drift right. I'm pretty confident that I could shift all the way to fifth if I had the room to do it and had my tire pumped up a bit. I also forgot to say....I usually find the balance spot when I'm in second. Second is the best part of the wheelie for a setup...There is sooooo much power in second to get setup for all the other gears. It just takes practice. I started one day at 3:00 and did wheelies constantly till 9:00. All I did was wheelies and I sucked at wheelies before. I think I'm pretty good now. Just remember...second gear is your friend when doing wheelies! You will find this out when you start. I also forgot to say...I never flipped it once when I was doing them. Good luck and practice alot.

To ride them good you have to flip it or ride the grab bar a few times. Then you know how far bac you can go, then you ride them really good and staright up..

I forgot to mention...sit back on the seat a few inches than you normally do...I makes finding and keeping the balancing spot easier. Not that the raptor couldn't pull the front wheels up even if you were sitting on the bumper! I'm not saying to sit on the back grabbar to do wheelies...just sit a little further back than you usually do.

I have Scrambler 400 2x4 that's the wheelie king, there right about the point, but if you start to drift back just tap you rear brakes to bring you back forwards. I just got my DS and am having to learn this all over. My 400 had brakes that were controlled by one lever on the handle bars. The 2x4 made me wheelie/shift lazy. So I'm in the same boat as you, I just have to work at it. Good luck!

I have a blaster and was just gettin pretty good at wheelies when well i broke my left arm ridin long story so i doubt i will be ridin wheelies for a while but you live and learn. Anyways when you are ridin wheelies do not be scared to fall back on the grab bar because that is one of the reasons it is there and no matter how scared you do get it wont flip back cause i have done it in first second and almost third on my blaster and a 300ex and it hasnt ever rolled back on me. later
