Super Lights or MST for Eiger?
#1
Hi all,
I've narrowed down between 2 sets of tires for my Eiger. 26x10x12 & 26x12x12 Super Grip Super Lights or 25x9x12 & 25x11x12 Outlaw MST. I can get the MSTs for $20 more than the Super Lights. I guess I'm torn between the MSTs reputation and the Super Lights rim guard and larger size (although I understand the actual height is probably only 25"). I guess I need help determining if the MSTs are worth (or more than worth) the extra $20.
Thanks all,
The IT Dude

From my understanding (by what I've read on several different forums), they are a better knock off of mudlites. ... Stronger rubber, tread is spaced slightly farther apart for better mud traction

mst for sure!!! i think mud lights are one of the poorest mudding tires out of them. plus it is very soft rubber.(wears fast) that being said i do think that they are a smooth riding trail tire. i just think they should change the name to trail lights!lol

I have had Gators, ITP Mud Lite XL and now Super Grip Super Light tires as well as various stock tires that come on the ATVs i own.
I have an 05 honda foreman 500 4x4, 02 honda foreman 450 S 4x4, 02 yamaha 400 Bigbear 4x4 and a 99 Yamaha Beartracker 250 . the family that rides togeather stays togeather
I gotta say that the best tire ive had to date is the Super Grip Super Light tire hands down. I liked the ITP mud lites but i only got one season use out of them before they were worn out . I ride on alot of railroad beds to get from place to place and was really disapointed to see them wear out so fast.
I like the Gators they last a long time but they are heavy and hard for my kids and wife to handle when it comes to turning on hard pack and the road and even on the trail at slower speeds. My only complaint about Gators is that they are not true to size i had 27" that were really only 25 and 3/4" at 7 PSI on 12 inch rims.
Last year i met some guys on the trails and they were running the Super Grip Super Light and as chance has it one of them worked at a wharehouse that sells em and he offered to hook me up with a set for my 500 foreman. I never heard of these tires till that day and so i searched the web for info and found that people were saying they were ITP Knock offs but couldnt find much else. I told the guy i met no thanks cause i figured they would wear out to fast like the Mud Lites did and he told me that if i could wear em out in a season he would buy em back for what i paid for em.
Well long story short here......I now have Super Lights on all my Quads
They are just like the ITP Mud Lites in ride and handleing but they are alot harder rubber and dont wear out fast like the mud lites did. I also feel they go through Mud and snow better then Mud Lites do.
So far on my set i have worn off 1/8" over 9 months and 934 miles compared to 3/4" of wear in about the same time and milage on the mudlites
