Rincon Questions
#1
I looked at a new Rincon today and have a few questions? It started right up but the bike seemed like it idled really low and wanted to stall. It didn't stall though. The dealer said this is just the way they are? Is this right. Also the bike seemed to have alot of vibration and it seemed to shake side to side when idling. The dealer said it's becase the engine is mounted sideways in the honda's. Is this just the way they are? I am trying to decide between this Rincon and the Yamaha Wolverine 450. I know they are completely different bikes, but both would be good for just trail riding like I do. I liked the Yamaha because it seemed alot simpler made, it was smaller and lighter and turned a lot easier which is good since I'm a smaller rider. I really don't need racks, IRS, or fuel injection. I really don't know what to do so someone that know's a little about these please help me out.
Thanks

Yes, they vibrate some at idle. It goes away when you start moving. The engine is mounted like they said. It eliminates any right angle turns with the drive train. The crank shaft is in line with the drive shaft. You can't ask for a better trail machine than the Rincon. It is what Honda made it for. It will be much more comfortable and more powerful than the Wolverine.

The idle speed adjustment was pointed out to me when I bought mine. It was a simple screw adjustment that I think might even be labled in the manual. Try increasing it a bit. My Rincon doesn't shake noticably more than any other ATV I've been on.

I bought an 06 Rincon last May and when I picked it up from the dealer it idled rough and even stalled once. I asked the salesmen about it and he said when it breaks in it will run better. I took it home and put some miles on it and 1000 miles later it hasnt stalled once and it idles fine. One more story, a couple months ago I was at the same dealer and a guy was picking up his 07 Rincon and it was idling rough and the customer questioned this and the salemen called me over and asked how mine was running after the break in and I said perfect. So it seems that they do run rough until you get a few miles on them. I would say if you can afford the Rincon then get it because it will be a much better trail machine. I dont know if I need IRS either but now that I have goten spoiled by it I will never go back to a SRA machine. Good luck with whatever you decide on.

The rincon EFi is much like a efi in a car. It has to learn for it to run good. Just being new there is no ride time stored in the computer. So being new it is in a learn mode. It will run rough and may even die. You ride it about 10-20miles and it will have learned all it needs to learn to run at its optimum. This is totally normal for any efi quad.

I took a test spin on a King Quad, and it vibrated pretty good at idle, too. Naturally a machine with a much bigger piston (than a 450) will vibrate a bit more. If it was really cold, and if the thing wasn't broken in at all (rings not seated at all) it is likely to run poorly until it gets a few hard runs.
The IRS on the Rincon will fly over rough terrain in with control and comfort that the SRA Wolverine won't match. The Wolverine will likely be more planted on fast smooth sweepers, and by virtue of being smaller will be easier to toss around in really tight woods.
