Default Choke adjustment 97 xplorer 500

97 xplorer 500 4x4. I cant get the gap at the choke handle. I adjust it all the way in, its flush. I run it all the way out, its flush. The choke apears to work. I notice an obvious difference at all 3 positions. Im just not sure if The choke is opening all the way. Any Ideas? The book says there should be 1/8 to 1/4 gap.
Thanks
Buk

all i can tell you is if the choke wasnt completely turned off it would not idle as good (maybe a little ruff) and it would run rich. now you would notice this in the warmer wheather more then the cold wheather. if im right(dont know havent looked) its a plunger that in the carb sets in a seat and when you pull(flip) it to the differnt places, your letting an additonal amount of gas in to help start it. w/ it off all the way it should be bottomee out in its seat in the carb.
