There are two boxes that look very similar on the wiring harness. One is the CDI...what is the other one? And, what does it do? First post...great site!!!

Can anyone help me with this? The schematic says its a Unit Comp Alarm....what does it do?

 

first my story, i have an 1985 250 trx no spark. so we took it to a allround mechanic and he told us the stator was gone. the other mechaic we took it too has now told us its the CDI and it will be running in a week or so. ANywho the mechanic and i were talking the thing ur wondering about is.... WELL all it does is control your engine temperature light nothing else. BUT it will not run without it hope this helps

 

Thanks for the info...I switched the parts between my 85 and 86 and the 86 started right up....why the heck this thing blocks the spark I'll never know....but....I need a new one apparently. Thanks again!!
