Hawkeye accessory external oil cooler
#1
Anyone that owns a Hawkeye running one of their accessory external oil cooler? After looking at the finned cooler/oil filter mount it appears to be sort of an necessary after thought. Kinda looks like there MIGHT be a heat issue, and they added the finned cooler.
Is the accessory cooler just air cooled, or does it have a fan?

Air cooled. No fan. I bought one, and did not like how it mounted as it seemed a bit exposed and could be damaged easly. The fins like radiator fins are very very flimsy. I took it off mine.

Air cooled single cylinder 4 strokes notoriously run hot so I put the auxiliary oil cooler on my Hawkeye. Relatively easy to install and it definitely runs cooler. Also holds more oil. I think it is worth it for the cooler engine, longer oil life, and better lubrication. I have Polaris' full length skid plate that protects the oil cooler from rocks and sticks. The auxiliary cooler doesn't have a fan but does have lots of surface area.
