Default Bear Lake, Utah ???

What is this place like? I've seen some pictures, and there are OHV trails and you can ride on the beach there. It is a pretty big lake, and it looks like lots of camping too. Might be nice in Summer....Wassup?

Great place with lots of ATV trails and camping, you can just about pick what kind of accomadations you prefer, all the way from luxury condos and cabin rentals, and a KOA next to the lake. Also plenty of places to park a camp trailer or set up a tent up many of the canyons that are within few miles of the lake, some improved sites and some not. The choices are endless. You are within a few miles of the Shoshone trail system and also the Highline trail system which offer all types of riding levels and styles. I live within a few minutes of these great trails and have yet to explore all of them. There are also PWC and boat rentals at the lake. I am not sure about riding on the beach though.

Default Bear Lake, Utah ???

Sounds great. It is a long drive for me coming all the way from New Mexico. Is it nuts in the summer? I used to live in Wyoming, summer was always the best time of year, I assume that this is also really nice in Summer. What kind of crowds do they get? Young, old, everybody? What is the difference between the Idaho side and the Utah side? Thanks for the info...

Weather in the summer is great, cool nights and warm days. Weekends and holidays get a little crowded around the lake. Most of the sandy shoreline and activities are along the southwest end of the lake so it can get crowded at times along the better areas. Because there are so many different types of activities available around the lake it really draws diverse crowds as far as ages go. Most of the people that are at the lake are not the ATV enthusiasts; it's just that if you enjoy both types of recreation, they are both close in proximity so you can take advantage of both. The trails don't get very crowded; there are so many different trails that you don't really get a sense that they are crowded. As far as the difference between the Idaho and Utah side, most of the activities around the lake are on the Utah end because of the sandy beaches and deeper water. The lake drains from the north end or the Idaho end, there seems to be less sand and more marshy areas on the Idaho side. The trail systems pretty much connect together, most of the highline trail is in Idaho and the Shoshone is on the Utah side.
